Could be a good idea - he seems to know something about the game wink

Russell Fuller from the BBC is suggesting that her new management company, StartWing, will play a role in recruiting Jo's new coach, although I'm sure she will want final decision making. Fuller is saying that StarWing helped with the recruitment of Fredde Rosengren and Hilts for Kyle Edmund end of last year, which has been hugely successful for him.

If this was a wishlist situation I would love to see Darren Cahill with Jo but I doubt he is going to split from Simona. I think Jo needs someone who can help her as much with the mental side of her game as with her technique and I think her ability to connect with her next coach is more important than finding a big name to work with.

Yes, he has enough gravitas and experience to get Jo to listen (we know how much she respects Simona). He's also the only one worth listening to on ESPN!

Alas, unless Simona's back injury is longterm (which I hope it isn't) it's a very long shot.

As noted by JonH in the Moscow thread, Jo is trialling with Stan Wawrinka's and Timea Bacsinsky's old coach, Dimitri Zavialoff, who despite his obvious Russian background, is French. Wawrinka is also under StarWing Sports, so it seems they did play a role in lining this up, as Russell Fuller (see above) suggested they would.

"Zavialoff is said to be quiet and studious - perhaps similar in personality to Esteban Carril, who in two and a half years helped Konta move from 150 in the world to inside the top 10."

Johanna Konta has hired coach Dimitri Zavialoff on a permanent basis after a trial in Moscow last month. Frenchman Zavialoff formerly worked with Stan Wawrinka and Timea Bacsinszky.

Great article. I hope that she can mange her energy better this year, and have more consistent runs as a result. It's potentially an exiting time for British tennis with the likes of Jack and Emma emerging to follow our current pack.

Appears that Jo has switched clothing sponsors to Ellesse from Asics. Here Jo is with Kyle:

Looks like another rare event she'll have to come through qualifying - she's 2nd alt in the Rome entry list. Serena and Sharapova are in the main draw, so always a chance they could withdraw.

There's a fair chance Sharapova won't be fit enough to play - supposed to need a few weeks to recover from "a procedure" on her shoulder in late February.

Let's hope 2 players drop out and Jo doesn 't have to try to qualify.

I am rapidly coming to the conclusion that Jo's career is no longer tennis but promoting products and being paid by sponsors such as Ellesse to do so. The latest product is Radley. This seems to have happened since she  changed  her agents. This must be an easier way to make money but feel it's like a different person  than her most successful playing days basically from Eastbourne 2015 to Wimbledon 2017. Hope our new recruit Miss Bains can be successful as I would like to follow a successful  career on  court rathet than off it.
