RE: British Men - Top Players (NEW type of table)

http://www.britishtennis.net/gbtop25m/current.htm now updated with R1 results from Benin City. The Brits now have 3 ranking points so far this week between them. 6 of them are left in singles draws (the 3 who have scored points, Murray & Baker yet to play R1 and, outside the top 25, Fitzy who resumed this morning a set down) and they are all due to play at some point in the next 24 hours.

Added the effects of the early morning results from Nigeria, thanks to Ed, and Andy's loss.

Updated last night with the results from the Americas (but strangely activeboard was playing up and preventing posts and bt.net was down as well) - we have three Futures quarter-finalists and Jamie Baker who's going to look a bit silly if he doesn't become the fourth, with two effectively now on 50 points (the 500 cut for those with more than about 10 tournaments is 53)

Poll added, really just to see whether anyone is still reading this thread wink since I think I already know what the answer will be smile.gif - should I specially add Jonny & Morgan to the bottom of the top 25 table on the basis that their protected rankings imply that they belong there?

Count: I thought people might like to follow them back up the rankings right from the start, hence the idea.

Freerider: Jonny's return is still a few weeks off, I think.

Yes, why not - if you don't mind the extra work.

Steven, could I just query your placing of Andy Murray. According to my spreadsheet, to RobC's, and to Judio on MTF, Andy should be #12 next Monday, not #13. His points to defend this week were 110 not 120, I don't know if that is the only difference.

Mad, I'm pretty sure Steven's new rankings are based on where each player would be with the new total in the current week's ATP rankings so there are differences sometimes. Of course making a mistake with points to defend, as in this case, is all his fault so no defending him there wink.gif

Oops, the points mistake was Me - Metz, where he did score 120, and Memphis both start with Me - long story!

However, Bethan is right - on my table, the projected ranking shown for each player is where that points total would have placed them on the last published list. Early in the week, it tends to be a more accurate estimate of the end of week ranking, especially if the player concerned goes out and can't advance further while some of the players behind him can still overtake. However, I try to reflect Rob's rankings once nothing more can change and I've changed Andy's projected ranking to 12 in the latest update.

If you look on http://www.britishtennis.net/gbtop25m/current.htm now and click the "FOLLOWING WEEK'S TABLE >>" link near the top right, it will take you to the provisional week 9 table, with all the whereabouts I know about and links to where the relevant draws will appear on the ATP site. It also has Morgan's details added in. smile

Delighted to see Jonny's and Morgan's details added, provided you don't mind the extra work.
Since you're doing that, would it be worthwhile my sending you my rank details (adjective chosen advisedly) from before I tore my achilles in 1974, especially as I'm planning a comeback soon?

Brilliant! As long as you have a protected ranking in the top 1000, you're in! smile.gif

Who said no in the poll, btw? LOL

Don't think protected rankings had been invented back when I was middle-aged, but I think I still have the plaster-cast somewhere ...
