Sashi was A270 on the original entry list, and Q13 after withdrawals. Nice to see she's giving it a go.

I see that she has a Portuguese national ranking so presumably based in Portugal and hasn't travelled a big distance on spec.

See week 21 - Oeiras.

She's played two qualifyying tournaments in Portugal this year.

Not surprisingly Sashi loses easily to the ranked player. And since our players seem to be avoiding Obidos at the moment that should be the end of our interest in this tournament this week.

Q1: KEMPSTER, Sashi (GBR) UNR [15yo] lost to BULLANI, Francesca (ITA) 16 869 CH=857 30/4/18 1-6 1-6

Strange, given the number of points we've picked up there over the years, confuse

Yes, I was wondering if there was anything players were not liking about the place, in terms of the set up there. The following week Beth and Lissey are still down in the qual draw however.

hard to be a carpet speciallist on tour makes you play in a way that dont help for hard and clay so much
events here been pretty soft since they started march last year as many players dont want no part of carpet
maybe soft points here might get your ranking up but they dont equip you to take on fields elsewhere when not carpet in the best way
bit variety in events to avoid getting grooved to carpet style seem sensible
katie b is basic a carpet /grass speciallist

Rain seems to be a regular problem.

Yes, and the outdoor 'carpet' courts are very slow drying.

Lissey was originally listed in this tournament but was automatically put into the $60K in America from which she has withdrawn.. so may still be in Portugal this week.....but not playing

Lissey appears to be in Cirencester, according to her instagram post. Of course, it could be an older photo, but that's where Giffords Circus are this week.

Yes, being essentially a fourth surface doesn't help players too much. I've often wondered a) why they put it in at Obidos, and b) given the problems created every time it rains, why they don't replace it.
