Yes, this is a marvellous win from Jodie, lovely to wake up too see. Would be fantastic if Jodie would really step up to make a claim for one of those GB #9 and #10 positions up for grabs. She is actually not that far off. This win and her qualifying point make her net 5 for the week so far, which will lift her level on 78 points with Beth and vying for the GB#11 position. Tara is now on 77 points (after her very disappointing loss last night) and therefore one behind them. Jodie would then need two more wins to reach the SF, to go past Maia and reach the #10 position. This is not so fanciful after her last performance, as she will meet no further seeds until the SF (and then potentially Astra Sharma, Freya's slayer).

But as Tom says, she has to maintain this level of consistency - so go Jodie! smile

10th at WTA 350 would be just perfect

Yes, that was a smart pick CD, I agree with you that of the group hovering just outside our top 10 she probably has the most immediate potential to go higher (Fran is also there, but I think will take longer, as she is still to transition successfully to 25ks). I wish now I'd put Jodie in my top 10 too! confuse

Sweet of you to say so, Michael, but I've got a load of 'crud' in my predictions too cry

However, yes, Jodie certainly has a lot of potential - let's hope this Aussie tour reaps rewards, for all of them.

Soumeya and partner take the first set 6-4 against the 2nd seeds.

Even though not a huge dubs fan, it still makes me smile watching Soumeya - there's really a bit of everything, including a super backhand winner for set point, some dinky lobs, a lot of bouncing, a lot of gesticulating - interesting, too, that both she and Julia stand back, both for first and second serves.

Thx, forgot about the ITF streams.

They fought hard after being well down in the MTB, but lost 6-4 1-6 [7-10].
