I thought Dabrowski played very well in the first set. Jo just played better

Nicely done.

Hope for a good end to the season, get back into the top 30 and an Aussie Open seeding now that that's staying at 32 seeds.

Updated ranking for Jo

L16: Johanna KONTA (GBR) WR 43 vs Donna VEKIC (CRO) 45

Jo was around 300 points from WR32, so with almost nothing to drop, stands a good chance of making up the gap and getting a seeding for AO.

Jo and Donna have played each other 4 times with Jo winning 3.

Donna reached a CH of 37 last month.

Her minimum Premier counter is 55 though, so she needs another win this week to pick up any further points.

True, but I was thinking more of Beijing, where she has 10 points to drop, and scope to gain more. But a couple of wins in Tokyo and Wuhan will help a bit.

Don't want to be a pessimist but if you look at one of the pictures on instagram of Jo practising in Tokyo she looks like she's got a strapping on her left thigh.

It would appear she didn't have it on during her match, perhaps it's just a precautionary measure?

I thought it was just a trick of the light, not strapping at all - assuming it is the same picture from four days ago

She'll need to rise to 16 to get a seeding at the Aus open. Grandslams are going back to 16 seeds next year.
