Boys & Girls: 2018 European under 16 Junior Championships, Moscow, Russia, clay (Week 29)

Unusually the European Junior Championships have been split over 2 weeks this year, starting with the under 16s.  Our 4 representatives have experienced mixed fortunes so far, with success for the boys, but not the girls in singles. Seedings can be misleading, being based mainly on Tennis Europe under 16 rankings, but there is no doubt of the strength of the top seed Holger Vitus Nodskov Rune, who has stormed into the ITF top 100 already. Jack's round 3 opponent is ranked inside 200 ITF

Boys R1 (L128)

Felix Gill d. Leandro Riedi (SUI) 6-4 6-2

R2

Jack Pinnington Jones d. Max Bakken (NOR) 7-5 6-4

Felix Gill d. (8) Stefan Popovic (SRB) 6-2 6-3

R3

(10) Edor Agafonov (RUS) v Jack Pinnington Jones

Felix Gill v Nick Manopoulos (GRE)

Girls R1 (L128)

Daria Shalamanova (BUL) d. Amelia Rajecki 7-6(4) 6-1

R2

(15) Avelina Sayfetdinova (RUS) d. Amelia Bissett 6-3 6-1

Just Felix left in singles and the boys doubles team as we reach the last 16. Felix next plays a Spaniard who progressed very easily today - he reached the Liverpool G5 final last year as a qualifier

Felix Gill d. Nick Manopoulos (GRE) 6-3 6-2
