L32:  (Q) Toby Martin WR 1316 defeated (1) Alessandro Petrone (ITA) WR 435 by 2-6 7-5 7-5

That match, which lasted for three hours & nine minutes, has only just finished, so must have taken place largely under floodlights.  Well done, Toby!  biggrin

Now, for God's sake, don't blow it!

That's a stunning win against a player 881 places ahead of him in the rankings - it ended after half past midnight local time, I think, and he had to come back from a set and 2-5 down and then from 3-5 down in the 3rd as well!

Wow - those are some comebacks.

And the fact that they were against a home player, very late at night - I bet there was a decent crowd and a LOT of noise. Amazing win.
Mr. Petrone must feel as as sick as a parrot....

Toby's match will be on soon. His section of the draw has opened up even further as the other seed in his section retired in the 3rd set today. So if Toby can get through the WC today, he will play a fellow qualifier in the QF.

Bob is getting ahead of himself again.
