Ellie Millard, 19 yrs, from Southampton, is a freshman at Northern Arizona. How well she's done there, and what kind of school that is... I'll leave to others who know more to comment.

Northern Arizona play in the Big Sky conference 12 teams, it gets 1 automatic bid to the NCAA tournament this year Northern Arizona who were seeded no 1 lost out to Idaho. Their assistant coach was the mountain region assistant coach of the year, Northern Arizona have a strong womens team including another Brit Worthy Goldman. So not a bad place to be to improve your tennis but not necessarily a springboard to the WTA.

Thanks for the info - I suspected that might be the case, but hadn't looked any further.

Well Ellie seems to have won her QR1 match by default - I assume her opponent did not pitch up (or was late), and now she is scheduled to play a QR2 match today as well.

Q1: MILLARD, Eleanor (GBR) UNR beat BOYDEN, Melissa (NED) WC UNR DEFAULT

Q2: MILLARD, Eleanor (GBR) UNR vs Barbara GATICA (CHI) [q5] 546 (CH:440 Oct 17)

It might be worth noting that Melissa Boyden has British parents and was born in England moving to the Netherlands when she was 4 months old due to her father's work. Her mother, Sally, was a top British cyclist winning road and track titles and ranked 4th in the world. Melissa is 14 years old and this was her first senior match.

Great info, RedSquirrel - as you say, always good to know the half-Brits (or almost whole Brits in this case). Even if they don't turn up and get defaulted

She is now playing Grade 4 junior ITFs. A 25k would have been quite a step up, but playing Grade 5 Tennis she has had some success having won a tournament at that level and reached another couple of finals.
