Boys & Girls: Roland Garros French Junior Championsips, clay - Grade A (Week 23)

With Aidan McHugh, Jack Draper, George Loffhagen and Emma Raducanu waiting in the main draw Jacob Fearnley starts his campaign to join them tomorrow. His Italian opponent was beaten by Emile Hudd in the Spanish G1 a couple of months ago

Davide Tortora (ITA) v (15) Jacob Fearnley

Anyone will be waiting in the MD for our players. Always an unpredictable opponent.

Predictive text strikes again I guess

Assuming you meant did Anton enter then the answer is yes he did. Special Exempts can only be awarded to players on the Qualifying Acceptance list though, and Anton looks as if he missed the cut by 27 places

I see from Instagram that Laura Deigman is at RG.
And before you ask, note the hashtags #RolandGarros #Juniors #Coach #S&C #Paris

Main draw is out. Our quartet have avoided seeds (Aidan is seeded anyway) but could be vulnerable, not having played any warm-up tournaments. George, who is the only one to have played a clay ITF recently, plays a strong Dutch boy who beat him en route to a G1 title earlier in the year. Jack and Emma's opponents have also won G1 events this year

Boys R1 (L64)

(WC) Antoine Cornut Chauvinc (FRA) v (13) Aidan McHugh
Nicolas Alvarez Varona (ESP) v Jack Draper
Deney Wassermann (NED) v George Loffhagen

Girls R1 (L64)

Emma Raducanu v (Q) Maria Timofeeva (RUS)

George is 4th on court 8 and Emma 5th on court 14 (plus half Brit Joanna Garland fifth on court 5) tomorrow. Aidan/Jack presumably play Monday.

Lets hope Emma can beat the qualifier who at only 14 with a G1 tittle in the bag is obviously a rising force, should she get through her likely opponent would be Clara Tauson who won back to back 15k's in Stockholm in October, the Dane has given her a bit of trouble in the past.

I've seen Tauson touted as a few people's pick tow win RG, so looks a tough draw in general for Emma.

Emma vs Tauson would be very interesting, if preferably later on. Would be interesting to see how they currently stand against each other, hoping both bring close to their best games to court.

Though little matter of R1 first ...

Cori Gauff has just annihilated her hapless Polish opponent, so George should be up in 15 minutes

George takes the first set 6-4 thanks to Deney contributing too many double faults. Live streams are available
