I'm only able to dip in and out of the match - is there a bit of needle developing between the two players?

Can't say I have noticed anything.

Yeah, me neither.
Evo is a 'twitchy' player so he often looks a bit on edge.
And Serge is rather poker faced.
But I think that's just them.

What a shame that game was. Not so long ago Dan was facing BP to go 0-4 down (twice) but having rescued that he fought back to 3-3 and then had Stakhovsky 0-40. Stak came up with some good serving though and held.

Dan at *3-4

There is no needle between them,  but they are focused.  Dan received an audible obscenity warning a couple of games ago, that is par for the course.

Looks like a tb

That was such good fun to watch. Dare I say it, that was a Wimbledon Main Draw quality match - by both players.

Well done Evo.

This Evans guy is quite good, he was unranked not long ago.

Loved the energy and focus that Dan was displaying as he saw it out. Well done !!  biggrin

If anyone didn't get to see the match, you can go back to this link and watch. It will be well worth it. But if you haven't got time to watch it all, just watch the 2nd set TB. That lob volley winner was exquisite.

What a shot that volley top spin lob in the tiebreak from Dan. Or is it top spin lob volley? Anyway it was an amazing shot. Hes so good to watch. Such inventiveness.

I just flippin love watching Dan when he plays like this!  He won the tie break with ease.  He deserved to, he generated a bucket load of BPs in the match that he just couldn't convert.

It is unusual for a men's grass court match to have so many BPs when the standard of play is so high.

I wonder if Dan has set himself any targets?  If he can maintain anything like this level, qualies for the US open seems do-able.

And I wonder when his agent might receive a call about sponsorship.  I though that bad boys were in vogue...
