Good to see such a challenger intended turnout from a mix of players who apart from Jay and Liam are very short of matches and wins for various reasons.

Re Cam in Monte Carlo that is 3rd alt for qualifying in case any doubt.

Update on Women's entries - after withdrawals there are a few more crept in to qualifying

Italy 25k (Clay) (William, A Pitak, K Pitak, Kondratowic)

Portugal 25k (Carpet) As above + Olivia Nicholls is 12th alt, so may well play doubles

Egypt 15k (Hard) Barnett (Stuart, Changwereza)

Tunisia 15k (Clay) (Collins)

Turkey 15k (Clay) (Elliott, Ruggieri, Heath, Scarff)

Nice to see one of the replacement Hollies giving it a go smile

I see Sandgren has moved into the main draw in MC (Tsonga has withdrawn) so presumably that moves Cam one closer to the qualies draw - any idea how far off he is - the last placed was 97th but with that move above, it will now be lower, but I cantt see the acceptance list anywhere for q alternates

Thanks Seagull - reasonable chance he will make it then with a few days left still?

I just wondered if anyone knows the practicalities of how this works? Cam has obviously been in North America this week; if he is playing Monte Carlo qualies he would start play Saturday and  would presumably need to aim to be onsite mid week to acclimatise, so flying about now. But he is second alt currently. How would it work in terms of determining when to fly,  is that a risk he takes and if he doesnt get in, then he practices all week etc? And who covers that cost? is it all his risk or do the tournament pay and do they reserve a room for him regardless?

Or does he leave it til as late as possible, maybe fly out Friday, arrive jet lagged and just hope he gets to play ok on the Saturday?

I am sure this happens every week to all sorts of players but the process and logistics issues of it all must be a massive part of the life for these guys - or even at his level will have an agent that takes care of it all??

I would have thought given that Cam is already out this week he will already be back in Europe. Had he still been playing at this point in the week he probably wouldnt have bothered with MC because of the rush involved. So fully expect him to be fit and ready for MC.

...thanks jaggy. So would he just choose to position himself at MC, get lots of practice, hope to get in the draw for qualies and if not just keep on practising before moving onto the next events (he is alt for Munich/Estoril/istanbul I think). There must be a lot of cost in doing that which I guess we don't always see, presumably if he isnt in the draw it isnt paid for by the organisers until he actually gets confirmed and finishes once he is knocked out

Well, you'd expect him to have some sort of training base in Europe, and that's probably where he'd go to first. Maybe in Spain, since his coach is Argentine?

Pretty sure I saw Cam mention the other day on one of the social media platforms that he was flying to Manchester. So thinks hes back in Europe.
