Jimmy Armfield

Very saddened to hear of the passing of Jimmy Armfield, but remember with thankfulness, a life well lived.

A peerless gentleman; a great servant to his sport, his country, and his beloved Blackpool; a thoughtful, humble, modest and balanced broadcaster in the mould of Dan Maskell.

We will not see his like again.

Here here.

A superstar before sporting superstars existed.

Indeed, enjoyed his broadcasting and he clearly was a very fine player and great servant to Blackpool.

Will be much missed.

Thank you for posting this thread. I have very fond memories of Jimmy and as a Leeds fan, he was manager the season Leeds reached the European Cup Final in Paris, 74-75, before losing to Bayern.

He was manager from 74-78 and was a fine player and very good broadcaster and seemed a genuinely nice person.

RIP Jimmy
