There was another Canuck in the draw who rejoices in the name of Ace Alexander Christoffer Neumann!  disbelief

A couple of surprises in the doubles:

L16:  (1) Luke Bambridge & Hans Hach (MEX) CR 363 (139+224) vs Kaptan Kaster & Rajko Mladenovic (USA/SRB) UNR (1656+0 (*))

(*)  The Serb is 32 & has apparently never had a doubles ranking!

L16:  (WC) Eric Hahn & Matthew Tsolakyan (USA/USA) UNR vs (WC) Jordan Bridge (USA) & Alex Ward UNR (0+1223)

Wait why are Alex and Luke playing doubles and not singles?

Pass!  That's precisely why I said there were a couple of surprises in the doubles!

Might well be fitness issues with Alex. He withdrew from the first week's futures and for this one he maybe didn't expect to be ready and / or is easing in gently with doubles.

Maybe Alex tried to sign in for singles qualies but couldn't as ideas full from players who had entered in the first place.

But don't think he has entered anywhere next week either?

I agree it doesn't seemto have been brilliant tournament planning to start the season, regardless of any injury.

I assume it is all down to the late cancelled Challenger in the States during this week which then ended up being moved to Bangkok. I assume Alex/Luke either didn't get notified soon enough to enter or didn't see the announcement in time. I don't know what the notifications about cancelled events are like.

Alex & Jordan will face Bambo & Hach in the semi-final, assuming both pairs with their respective encounters.  hmm
