Health Scare

Just seen this - I'll be thinking of you this week, Bob. Horrible to get left with all that uncertainty and no real info from the doctors. That sadly seems to be all too frequent - I guess these things are daily routine to the specialists and they can lose sight of how scary they can be for mere humans like us. Though what Etienne's wife says does make sense, so hopefully that does explain the chain of events so far.

Thinking of you Bob - the anxiety about all this won't be doing you any good - sometimes just facing the uncomfortable feelings and looking at them without analysing and labelling them can reduce the intensity and help you relax. Good luck. Very good chance the symptoms are something that will pass anyway.

Thinking of you Bob. The "not knowing" is really the worst thing. Very best wishes.

Just wanted to say thanks again for all the messages of support both here and privately. I have managed to come out of panic mode and I am feeling a bit more relaxed now - although not totally. My MRI has been scheduled for Friday morning so I will let you know how things go.

Thanks CD. I had a couple of tests today with the most important one being the MRI. I have to wait until next Thursday for the results on that one. The other was an ultrasound on kidneys and liver which came up all clear.

I do feel a lot better than I did a week or so ago, due in no small part to the support I have had from everyone on here. Just need the all clear next Thursday and then I can really start to relax.

First hurdle cleared - good to hear that the ultrasound was all clear.
Thinking of you for the next stage of MRI results.

Hi everyone.

I went to the hospital for the results of the MRI scan today. My worst fears have been allayed as there is nothing malignant of any kind which is a huge relief. They have, however, asked for yet further tests. There are clearly some circulatory issues and there has also been a tiny amount of "non-recent" bleeding inside the skull. The Spanish terminology is somewhat different to the UK terminology, but what I think the doctor was telling me is that I suffering a few "very tiny" strokes a few weeks back.

The next step for me is an ultrasound on the neck and more specifically on the Carotid artery to ensure that there is sufficient blood flow and no blockages. In the meantime, I have been placed on a daily dose of aspirin to thin the blood a bit.

Overall I feel much better than I did a few weeks back but clearly I have to be much more careful with my health and diet than I have been over the last few months. Whilst the news is not perfect, at least I know that the issue is manageable and if I am sensible, it should not lead to any long term problems.

Thank you all again for you support, both here in the thread and through the private messages. They have been of enormous comfort.

Bob

SO pleased for you, Bob. It's seems like something you'll have to be careful about going forward but at least the docs have ruled out anything truly nasty, and they seem to know what they're dealing with, and have a care plan. You're in good hands !

Hi Bob
So pleased to hear your news - good to know there's nothing malignant, and that it sounds like a manage-able situation. All the best going forward (and let us know if/when you need reminders about being sensible - I'm sure we can oblige, in the nicest possible way of course!).smile
