Goodness, young Felix Gill (born 2002) has certainly decided to stamp his mark on this tournament.

After winning his R1 match yesterday, he took out the second seed today. And then went through his QF match with bakery products.

R2 (L16): Lukas PALOVIC (SVK) [7] def. Toby SAMUEL (GBR) 6-4 3-6 7-5

QF: Felix GILL (GBR) def. Plamen PENEV (BUL) 6-1 6-0

GIRLS:

QF: Basak AKBAS (TUR) [1] def. Mimi BLAND (GBR) 6-3 7-5

Two of our players into their respective finals !

Felix carries on: takes out the third seed and is into the final:

SF: Felix GILL (GBR) JWR 1965 (born 2002) def. Vasileios VARDAKIS (GRE) [3] JWR 673 (born 1999) 6-7(6) 6-0 6-0

Felix and Toby are still in the doubles too.

AND Eleanor Baglow and partner are into the doubles final.

Just reading that Felix Gill won bronze medal in the world junior Padel Tennis Championships a year or so back.

One site says that, for tennis, he has now (Sept. 2017) just been accepted for training with the national squad.

Think he's at Edgbaston Priory.

Going to be tricky today, though, against the top seed:

FINAL:

Felix Gill (GBR) JWR 1965 (born June 2001) v (1) Basak Akbas (TUR) JWR 350 (born Feb. 2000)

The finals have been delayed until this evening. It would be intriguing if Felix actually did play Basak Akbas as she is the top seed in the girls event biggrin  Felix's opponent is the top-seeded Cezar Cretu (ROU) JWR 420 who has won 19 consecutive matches, so going for 4 titles in a row

Close but not quite..... (might have been a better result if he'd played Basak )

FINAL:

Felix Gill (GBR) JWR 1965 lost to Cezar Cretu (ROU) JWR 420 6-3 7-6(4)

No luck in the girls' doubles either:

FINAL:

Daria KRASNOVA (RUS) / Maria ORESHKINA (RUS) [3] def. Eleanor BAGLOW (GBR) / Melody TODOROVA (BUL) [2] 6-1 6-4
