So she does...

L32: ARBUTHNOTT, Emily (GBR) 778 vs WITTOUCK, Louise (BEL) (wc) UNR 17yrs JCH541

Emily is in the doubles too with Lucie Wargnier (FRA). They are the 4th seeds and have a bye into the QF.

Bah the NCAA ain't nothing.
Stanford's finest facing the reality of pro-tennis, *0-2

I'm sure she'll be fine though.

A bit topsy turvy. Emily won the next four games, and now has just saved 2 BPs and then gone on to hold. So a much more promising 5-2* now.

Well after that 0-2 start Emily certainly moved through the gears. She won with the loss of only one more game 6-2 6-1

L32: ARBUTHNOTT, Emily (GBR) 778 bt WITTOUCK, Louise (BEL) (wc) UNR 17yrs JCH541 6-2 6-1

Her potential second round opponents only play tomorrow. Could be the 7th seed.

Good to see Emily come back here in the second set, now 3-6 6-3. First serving improved in particular. Percentage in and won.

There are only 3 L16 matches today, so Emily's QF opponent won't happen until tomorrow but could be the #2 seed, Deborah Kerfs (BEL) WR 543 (CH442).
