I know all these ladies lost but for me the Wimbledon qualifying is much more important to them.

Winner to face Kerber

Johanna v. Bye
Siniakova (who beat Jo in Shenzhen) or Q in R2, Potentially RG champ Ostapenko in R3

Our only entrants, they play Czech 4 seeds, Hradecka/Siniakova

Err quite a loaded main draw, 14 of the top 17 ranked competing, 16 seeds from the top 21.

Only Williams x 2 and Svitolina missing from that top 14 ( edit: top 17 even ).

Considering Birmingham and Eastbourne are both Premiers these days, Eastbourne week before Wimbledon still gets the players, in fact that must be its strongest draw in years in world ranking terms.

Agreed. I genuinely have no idea why more of our upper British players didn't pick more of the $100k available. They offer good points and potentially deeper runs. Surely losing R1 or QR1 for 3 weeks isn't goin to help development or rankings?

I just almost fell off my chair in shock.

(Okay I didn't really, I'm sat back quite back comfortably, but still.)

Bit disappointing in the qualifying but the gulf was large. We usually do get a couple of wins though.

Brilliant first set for Heather, taking it 6-3. She trails 0-3 in the second

Heather wins 6-4 in the third set; could have won earlier having lots of break points.

Good win though and did well to keep momentum.biggrinbiggrin
