British Tour 2017

The big Premier event takes place this week in Lougborough.

The top 8 seeds, all ATP ranked, are:

Ed Corrie

Liam Broady

Joel Cannell

Luke Oakley

Jonathan Gray

Oliver Hudson

Nicolas Rosenzweig

Jonathan Binding

Prize money (before any additional event top-up) goes: £1,000 winner, £600 runner-up, £300 losing semi-finalists, £150 losing quarterfinalists

First rounds underway with, notably, a nice win by young George Loffhagen (born 2001) against ATP-ranked Mason Recci, a 1&0 win by Jamie Whiteford against ATP-ranked Hudson and a very decent effort by Tiran Sanghera, losing in two tie-breaks to Joel C, now top-900.

Ed and Liam safely through, although Bruce Strachan made it close for Liam, with a score of 6-4 7-6(3)
Ewan Lumsden lost out by a whisker, 5-7 in the third, to ATP-ranked two-handed Frenchman, Nico Rosenzweig.
Joel needed three sets to beat Ben Jones.
Jack Findel-Hawkins carries on, beating Sam F quite easily.
As does Jamie W, beating George L and Jonnie G, beating Marcus Walters.
And Ryan Storrie put out Luke Oakley, WR 1357, 6-4 in the third

It would be like a Corrie Story to have a Corrie Storrie final.

But I think it'll be Corrie vs Broady.

Good to see Jamie Whiteford ( top 900 before his time out ) getting results after his injury problems.

I was there for the semi finals, the two players with the better attitudes won.

Hodkin is like his doubles partner/mentor(?) Dan Cox, really scrappy player. Jhun very solid, doesn't miss much.

Always good to hear first-hand feedback. Cheers. Did you see the women too?

Sean won 5-2. Alex retired with some sort of heel injury. Don't know if he was inhibited by it, but Sean was definitely on top
