2017 Female rankings predictions

With an unquantifiable amount of thanks to ISF for infinite patience and hours of help, we've tried to look at the votes so far.

Unfortunately publishing the results to the public server haven't worked as hoped, as the display size is too big despite our best and most careful efforts.
So, view it on a desktop/laptop, and press F11 to view full screen (F11 again to exit full screen). It just about fits then. It all looks so beautiful as it was designed

Anyway, here: public.tableau.com/views/2017TennisForumWomensRankingsCompetitonv1_020161229/1-PredicitionDistributions

There are 11 exciting tabs so far.
Who picked who, and where?
Which players were selected most often?
Who's the most pessimistic forum member?
Who's a real maverick?
What is the forums overall view?
Are we in agreement about anything, at all?
Who's 'winning'?

All this and more!

It's highly unlikely we'll be able to keep this updated, for complicated reasons, but if you find any errors, or think of anything else you'd like to see, let me know, and we'll see what we can do.
This is no way replaces Sim's excellent and beautifully run competition, which is such a valuable addition to the forum.

Thanks ISF for reaching out, it's been a real pleasure, for me

You're back! Hurrah! How lovely - and many thanks to you both. That is a work of art.

Best wishes for the New Year.

It's an exciting time in the women's game - lots who have the tennis, and the right age/profile, to make a sudden shift up.

As Peter says, who to leave out?

So with apologies to Katie B who would be in my top 10 like a shot if she changed her coach and Mandy who was on the edge....

And with a little shout out to Jodie who I definitely would have had a punt on if the top 10 was going down to WR 400, say, and we didn't have so many top 300 players:

Joko - 22
Heather - 70
Tara - 110
Laura - 130
Naomi - 140
Freya - 180
Gabi - 250
Katie S - 255
Harriet - 260
Katy D - 265

Thanks to Sim.
Good luck to all!

The only data queries I can see are:

  1. LordBrownof has two GB Rank 5 predictions in your table: Tara & Naomi
Tara should be their GB Rank 4 selection
That will increase their points total to 47, and tied 4th place
  2. PeterToo has been given a GB point for Katie Boulter.
    Predicted GB #5
    Actual GB #10
GB Difference 5, normally that's a zero score?
  3. For Mervatron2
Your table lists Eleanor Dean as GB #13 & WR 483 - which I think was from last year
Ms. Dean is currently WR unranked and so also GB unranked
The figures are allocating Mervatron2 2 GB points based on the old ranking

I'm not usually very good at these rankings! last year in the men's I came near the bottom, but did better in the womens, in the top 6 or so.

however, my pessimism (and this board's natural optimism as I see it!), coupled with (I think) picking final results fairly close to their current actual ones makes my results look good, or you could say - the only way is down!!

fabulous tables - thanks to ISF and others.
