Lewis lost, Marcus is a break down, but Mr. Cornish has pinched the first set.

I've never seen Noah Rubin play but I've only heard good things from the Junior Wimby winner. That's a tough Q draw for Marcus.

Really well fought for Marcus to take the first set 7-5.

Now 4-4

fingers crossed . . .

Good wins for Marcus and Jonathan - not quite a career best scalp for the latter (that was when he beat Ashley Hewitt in Cumberland qualies in 2012) but a decent scalp nonetheless

QR1: Lewis Burton WR 728 lost to (q7) Sekou Bangoura (USA) WR 497 (= CH) by 3 & 1
QR1: (wc) Jonathan Cornish UNR beat Erik Elliott (USA) WR 1320 (= CH) by 5 & 4
QR1: (q4) Marcus Willis WR 385 beat Noah Rubin USA WR 610 (CH 532 in Jul; junior CH 6 in 2013) by 5 & 4

Wow, great win for Marcus! I wasn't confident due to his last few weeks but good result.

That's one tough draw for Marcus, with Rubin and Freddie to get past to qualify.
Lock should be comfortable, but we said that about Marcus' last low ranked opponents and he lost to one in Madrid and nearly lost to the other in Manchester.

Yes, but he lost to one in Madrid partly because he'd been in bed for three days before going and ended up at the doctor's again right after getting back.

Well done Marcus !

7-6(4) 6-4

Into the FQR, which at least guarantees him a reasonable bonus fund payment.

Marcus will play Freddie in the final round.

(NB Cornish lost 6-2 6-0 against second seed, King).
