Week 41 - Great Britain F20 ($10,000) - Sunderland (Hard)

Hewitt, Farquharson, Goodall, Marsalek, Bloomfield, Carter, Coupland, Malik, Orton, Hutt, Thornton-Brown and Meehan should all be DAs here.

Aswat, Cash, and Jones were all on the entry list but are not in qualifying so may have sneaked in following late withdrawals or may have wild cards.

Of the 35 players in qualifying there is only one non-Brit.

The GB F21 thread will be the best thing to have happened to this board. Full house of Brits to support AND Gary (potentially) in full flow. Can we get to 500 posts?!

The 16 QR2 matches were all won in straight sets with the tightest set being 6-4. In fact it was just 1 of the 3 QR1 matches that stopped it being a full set for the day.

Josh Goodall is in my opinion best player in the draw & my favourite to win the tournament

Agreed A1.

Also, as opposed to not wanting a retired player to take points away from more active players, I am also actually a fan of Josh playing these tournaments. He is an excellent barometer of where our younger guys are at. If they are not able to consistently beat a retired Josh, they clearly still have a lot of work to do and it may be counterproductive for them to pick up the points if Josh wasn't there.

Just seen the draw and wouldn't be suprised to see a few upsets.

Wouldn't be suprised to see an injury prone Bloomers get turned over to Jathan Malik and an out of form Tom F lose to George

Can see Marcus Daniell causing Ashley problems in the top half, but in all honesty if Josh G is committed and playing half decently he should go a long way this week. The top 2 seeds are out of form.

But I'd love Ashley Hewitt and Marcus Willis (from next week) to come through strongly at the end of the year by picking up finals and tournament wins from these 3 GB Futures - that would really set up 2014 fantastically.

I'd also like to see Julian Cash beat Josh tomorrow - that boy can really play - it ought to be beyond him, but you never know

wonder if Bruce Strachan will actually get that elusive ranking point.

I watched him play Orton at Wrexham where he lost 6-4 in the third and I was quite impressed with his game.

and he has a very nice professional blog (as part of his training contract with the Paul Lawrie foundation) !

Still think Rob might be tricky if he's on song . ..

Bruce only receives Sponsorship from Paul Lawrie as many of the local sportsman mainly Golf though but he trains full time at Stirling uni where there good facilities

I see Tennisnow got in first - that'll teach me not to take a phone call while typing out a draw LOL (not that I expected it would last 40 minutes ...)

I'll leave my post up too because it has the up to date rankings in it, which I need for Twitter and also it'll make it easier to carry forward players with their new rankings to the later rounds.

Tennisnow - if you didn't want gaps between every match but just found Activeboard's "Advanced Editor" was a pain, forcing an extra line on you every time you pressed enter, then for future reference, there is a way around it - just hold the shift key while pressing the enter key. (if you knew that already and the extra line spaces were deliberate, then just ignore me! )
