Roland Garros

Out of the blue my son has booked a ground pass for us on the first Tuesday.

If anyone has any advice on how to make the most of this I'd be really grateful.

Sounds brilliant - you should get maybe a couple of Brits playing and no problem getting into the courts concerned (unless they are playing French players ... but even then, there are so many French players it probably doesn't make much difference)

I've never been to RG, so I'll leave advice to someone who has.

Who will be heroes in Paris? Nadal should win, but Federer on his way back to #1. Now he is #2 and Djokovic have to defend his leader's position. Only these three players have chances for winning French Open. OK, Ferrer is also very good, but winning seven matches for two weeks is impossible for him.

Serena's best is a level better than that of anyone else. I have no idea how long she can keep it up, but it will be a physical deterioration, not a lack of the will to win. Then Vika, Maria and possibly Petra. We'll see.

I don't think that Ferrer's issue is winning 7 matches in 2 weeks. Rather, it's that it's more than likely that 2 of them have to be against Nadal, Djokovic or Federer.

Which of course is why Andy Murray's main problem is not one of ability, but that he timed his career very badly.

Which makes it all Judy's fault!

Anyway, back to topic: anyone that has been to RG and can help Armchair?

Indeed, being outside the top 4 seeds, Ferrer would have to play all 3 of these if they beat everyone else unless he ends up in Muzza's quarter.  Tough !

I'm packing my bag and am very excited. Maybe I'll get to see one of the British girls, I've got my fingers crossed for Laura getting a LL place.

I missed out on Wimby tickets this year but I'm going to try and get a ticket on the Ticketmaster 'next day' scheme.
So fingers crossed.

Au revoir !

First time, Serena Williams lost in the first-round match at Grand Slam tournaments. She lost in three sets match against Virginie Razzano of France 4-6, 7-6 (5), 6-3 at Roland Garros today. Look at this article I posted on May,7. One of the coaches predicted Serena's defeat in Paris. Unfortunately, he was right. http://wp.me/p2iyrR-6e

There are no any chances for winning for American players in singles in Paris after she lost.

Ah lucky me !

I got to see both Anne & Heather's matches. Hope I wasn't clapping too indiscreetly .... and I only did one or two come on Hevs !

Heather played beautifully and I really look forward to following her over the next few years. It's lovely to notice and start following someone in Juniors and see them do well.
