READ THIS PRIOR TO POSTING ENTRY LIST THREAD
Permalink Closed

To keep things orderly I propose that the new threads for 'Entry Lists' should be formatted the same :

Thread title format [week nn] - [Event Level & gender] - [Host City]

where 'nn' is the Week number Ie Week 20

where the 'Event Level' can be :

Futures F** / Challengers / ATP / WTA / Exhibition name

where the 'host city' is simply the host city.

To highlight the 'gender' of the event simply add (M) or (F) at the end of the 'Event Level'. This will not apply to ATP / WTA and GS events.

Examples :

(Mens futures) : Week 20 - Futures F10(M) - Edinburgh

(Womens Challenger) : Week 18 - Challenger(F) F8 - Madrid

(ATP) : Week 18 - ATP - Estoril

(WTA) : Week 19 - WTA - Praque

For Grand Slams I suggest the name of the slam is used. So for Wimbledon it would be :

Week 27/28 - Wimbledon - London

Does this make sense...any comments...please post below.

I just remembered the Womens circuit does not really distinguish a Futures Level from a Challenger level except for the prize money is that right ?

Using F for women's events may get confusing with the F in F8 etc. Why not just put 'Men' or 'Women' in full (unless it's obvious from reference to ATP/WTA). It only has to be done once for the title, so it's not a lot of extra typing.

Makes sense to me, Drew. As for the confusion between F for futures and F for female, we could use W for Women instead to keep the title shorter.

I can't help with the women's type of tournament, they are a complete mystery to me! I read about the Brits' progress(es) but otherwise take no notice of the female tour.

Do we post entry lists for the women anyway? Usually I have only seen full entry lists for tournaments where Andy or Tim are playing.

Edit - I have altered the Estoril and Rome threads to conform.

After discussion with David, this section is from now on to be kept solely for rankings threads.

Entry lists should be put under "Andy" or "British Men" sections. I have moved the existing threads, but am still waiting for a reply from David what to do about tournaments where Andy AND other British men are playing. . .

Johnnylad has asked if the 'prize money' can be included within the thread title.

Can I propose this change to the formatting :

---------------------------------------------------------

Thread title format [week nn] - [Event Level & PRIZEMONEY] - [Host City]

where 'nn' is the Week number Ie Week
20

where the 'Event Level' can be :

Futures F** / Challengers / ATP / WTA / Exhibition name

where PRIZEMONEY can be 10k, 15k, 50k+H etc....

where the 'host city' is simply the host city.

This would mean dropping the GENDER as I do not think its required.

I do not think this should apply to main ATPs and Slams.

----------------------------------------------------------

Therefore the change would mean :

Week 39 - Futures F18 (M) - Nottingham, Great Britain

changing to this :

Week 39 - Futures F18 (15k) - Nottingham, Great Britain

And for others levels....

Week 20 - Challenger (125k) - Wrexham, Great Britain

What should we do for the womens side of things ?

Week 30 - Womens ITF (25k) - Madrid, Spain

What about WTA events and the different grades ?

Comments welcomed...propose to make any changes from Next weeks events.

Please post your thoughts !!!

I prefer it when the week numbers are shown, too. Better than opening a thread and not being sure whether it is about a tournament that is current, future or even past!

I have altered a couple of them to show the week numbers but I am a bit busy at the moment and perhaps haven't seen all of them.

I have no problem in posting it in a proper way, but I don't think that we need to mention 'Futures' in the title and it's actually wrong. The 'F' in F1, F13 or whatever stands for Futures, so either the 'F' or the 'Futures' is redundant when we say 'Futures F20'.

I have taken the time to sort formatting and asked opinions as to what people wanted. Really happy that people start the threads and that is the main thing but the site looks so much more professional with week numbers especially and the good thing about having 'Future' in the title is it makes it so easy to spot from other threads.

So thanks for everyone who posted threads (I was away the weekend so did not do any myself) but lets get back into the formatting please.

I propose we dont change anything that was as before...

Week 99 - Futures F1(10k) - Glasgow, Great Britain

Week 99 - Womens ITF(25k) - Milan, Italy

Week 99 - Womens WTA(150k) - Milan, Italy

Week 99 - Challenger(50k) - Wrexham, Great Britain

Week 99 - ATP - Nottingham, Great Britain

etc etc.....

I do not think this is very onerous for people to follow.

Thanks and comments welcomed.

Drew
